Safety Awards

  • PICS Auditing
    Certified for successfully completing a two phase audit of our financial, OSHA and DOT safety compliance programs, insurance coverage, employee training, and client-specific safety requirements.
  • California Highway Patrol Award for Meritorious Achievement
    Recognized for "meritorious achievement" in safety since 1994. This certificate of achievement recognizes our continuous "commitment to highway safety" over the past 14 years.
  • Workers' Compensation Safety Award
    Recognized for our outstanding commitment to safety in the years 2004 to 2009. We were told by the provider that we set the standard for our industry concerning safety.

Workers' Compensation EMR

  • Our Experience Modification Rating (EMR) of .70 EMR is a measure of Belshire’s workers compensation safety experience. The average in our industry is 1.0. Our EMR of .70 is calculated by the Workers Comp Bureau to be 30% better than the average for our industry.

Safety Training

  • Loss Prevention System (LPS) Training and Certification for Belshire employees and supervisors to assist in identifying and eliminating the factors and behaviors that lead to losses.
  • American Petroleum Institute (API) Training and Certification. API is a retail service station contractor safety qualification program that identifies personnel who have received training for and passed on-line standardized exams covering the latest service station industry safety practices.
  • Smith Over the Road Defensive Driver Training and Certification This course is taken to enhance the skills of our professional commercial drivers by providing tools which assist in driver knowledge, alertness, anticipation, judgment and technical skills.

Hazardous Waste Training

  • DOT Hazardous Materials Regulations HM 126/181.
    All our office and field personnel who prepare hazardous waste documents are trained in 49 CFR Parts 171-177. This regulation requires employees who deal with hazardous waste documents, labels, and shipping have training which enables the employee to recognize and identify hazardous materials consistent with hazardous communications standards.
  • DOT Security Regulation Supplement HM 232
    All Belshire’s drivers and office personnel have met the requirements of HM-232 for certification in hazardous materials handling and transportation security awareness. HM-232 was created by the Department of Transportation after 9/11 in response to the increased security threats to the United States especially in the area of hazardous materials and waste transportation.
  • Hazardous Waste Operations Training (HAZWOPER) 49 CFR 1910.120 (e) (3) (I)
    All Belshire employees in safety sensitive positions have received a 40-hour HAZWOPER course which teaches them how to identify and handle hazardous materials and how to properly protect themselves from chemical exposure. Our employees know the importance of the Health and Safety Plan (HASP), the use of appropriate work practice controls, and how to recognize signs and labels that will alert them of dangers involving hazardous materials/wastes.

Drug & Alcohol Training & Testing

  • Belshire is a zero tolerance Drug-Free workplace. Our drug testing program is compliant with DOT Regulations for pre-employment, post-accident, reasonable suspicion and random testing of our employees in safety sensitive positions.
  • All supervisors are required to receive Drug and Alcohol awareness training.
